Networking, Part I

No, I'm not referring to your WAN or LAN. I'm talking to your professional networking. Sometimes we forget to work on this important aspect of our careers. The majority of career advancement about 65% comes from "professional networking". That would be to create contacts that will help you to move on on your career.
When should I start networking? Don't wait until you need a job. The best time to start your network is when you have a job.
How should I start? First of all find local networking events on your community. Microsoft technical meetings are a good example of this.
How can I network with Project Managers professionals? The best way is to attend the local chapter dinners. This is a great relaxing environment designed to exercise networking . Also, you'll enjoy a Project Management Presentation and the opportunity of gaining PDU's if you are already a PMP.
